Bullying is very bad!!!

Weather: Fine
Mood: Happy

Today, My principal has been talking about bullying in school. I am not saying that my school had many bullying cases. No, no, no, the principal just wanted to tell us more about bullying so we are more aware of this problem.

I really don't understand why people bully others. Is it for fun, bored or they love the feeling of torturing people. In my primary school, bullying was common, very common. The most common cases of bullying are teasing and taunting. Apparently, my class was very good at it. They would gang up and continuously SHOWER the victims with taunting.I feel quite sad for the victims. Being different from others would lead to being bullied. The victims told the bullies not to tease them anymore , but they would not listen.

I really wonder why people like to bully others. I have heard that people bully others because they want attention. It was found out in a research that most bullies ( physically bullying) comes from broken families. Perhaps bullying was the only thing the bullies thought they could do to get attention. They must be pretty desperate to desire attention to that extent.
Perhaps they think bullying was " cool". Teenagers nowadays want themselves to be " cool " They are willing to do silly things to be "cool"even if it requires them to emotionally disturb or physically hurt others.

Let me share with you a past incident. I was ever bullied. I remembered vividly about that incident. I was in Primary one. Everyday, I would take the school bus home. One day the biggest boy extorted $5 from me. ( It was a big sum to me then) I was so frightened that I gave him my money. (I wasn't thinking straight. That was a Primary one student's mentality) After alighting from the bus, I told my parents. My parents told the school about it and the boy was severely punished. I want to tell all the victims out there, if you are bullied, don't be as dumb as me to give in to the bully's demand. You must be brave and stand your ground, tell an adult about it , do not hesitate at all. This message is for all the bullies out there that bullying will get you in heaps of troubles, trust me. Bullying have dire consequences. Is it worth it to bully to get fun and in the end pay dearly for it? I tell you, it is definitely not.

P.s I was never a bully. I am not so foolish to downgrade myself to such a childish behaviour. I may be a bit sensitive to this topic because I was ever bullied.

  1. Hello Jonathan,

I somewat share the feeling. I had also been bullied once in Primary 1, but it was unknown to me that what the fellow had been doing was actually bullying. Of course, I had learnt from that incident. Now that I am in Secondary one, I am more than capable of defending myself if such a case were to happen.

I bear somewhat of anger and resentment towards them, anyone, or any bully, who tries it on me, will be signing his death contract.

    Yours Sincerely,
    Justin Goh Xian Qiang

  2. Hi Jonathan,
Thanks for talking about this subject for many people have no idea how many people out there are being bullied and still remain in silence. It makes my blood boils whenever I come across cases of friends being bullied. I shall not hesitate to report these cases and I sincerely hope that the authorities I report to will support me and take these cases on. Just like Justin who posted a comment before me, I too was kinda bullied when I was in P1. That day, I brought to school my new Nike water bottle and during recess a few P6 boys took it from me by force and I never saw my water bottle again. I went to seek help and the first teacher I saw, I reported the case to her and she did not help me. The next day, my mum reported the case and the teacher to the discipline master of the school and he brought me to all the P6 classes to identify the boys who took my water bottle. Bless the discipline master...
In conclusion, we all have a part to play to eliminate bullies in school and that includes teachers, for a part of my heart died when the teacher turned me away at that time when I needed help and protection most.

  3. Yup Martin, the teacher should have done something especially considering the fact that you were only in primary school and still too young to stand up for yourself. What I feel is very important is for us to stand up for ourselves and be courageous enough to say NO to bullying (no matter if it happens to us or to others).
